China’s electric bicycle sector is undergoing its most significant transformation since 2018 with the implementation of the GB 17761-2024 national standards.
Effective from September 2025, the updated regulations mandate enhanced safety features including improved flame-retardant materials, anti-tamper mechanisms, and high-temperature resistant vehicle identification. Shandong Milan has proactively adapted to these changes through its 28,560-square-meter factory equipped with automated production lines.
“We’ve integrated these new requirements into our manufacturing process, particularly in battery safety and frame durability,” explained their technical director. The company’s 1,960-square-meter R&D building continues to develop compliant models, positioning them ahead of the December 2025 deadline when all previous standard certifications will be invalidated.
